Frostbite

Do you know what frostbite is?

Do you know how to prevent it?

get the basics on frostbite

Frostbite is an injury to a body part caused by freezing.

Frostbite causes a loss of feeling and color in the fingers, toes, ears, nose, cheeks, or chin.

You might not know you have frostbite, because one of the symptoms is numbness.

Seek medical care if you think you have frostbite.

Be prepared for cold weather:

Wear a hat, gloves, boots, and warm clothes when you are outside.

Pay attention to the temperature and the wind chill, so you know if it is colder than normal.

Make sure you have warm clothes with you when you are driving somewhere in your car.  You will be ready for cold weather if your car breaks down.
